The past week in Club Penguin Rewritten saw the newest edition of the penguin style, construction for the submarine party and the ability to become a tour guide added to the game. However, the team also discussed a number of projects in the works and when we can expect to see them.

Sneak Peeks

First up, the February Furniture Catalog is expected to bring the “Gray TV Stand” item to CPR. This item was last seen in March 2017 within the original Club Penguin.

Also this week, the team stated that the “3D Glasses” face item, previously seen in 2020, and the “Mop and Bucket” hand item, which comes with its own custom animation, will be brought to the game with the March 2021 Penguin Style.

Currently Being Worked On

Throughout the week, the admins and developers of CPR also shed light on their current developmental priorities. It was announced that it is expected that minigames will become a lot smoother due to upcoming updates to the program used to run the flash files for the games. Having said that, a tweet from Club Penguin Rewritten also stated that eventually, all games would be moved over to HTML5.

Other projects that are in the process of being developed are mascot visits, code redemptions, puffles, the stamp book and the binoculars from the cove. The team also stated that they would like to see a return of the EPF sometime in the near future. This will be needed for Operation SWARM, which the team has previously announced would be returning to development with the HTML5 client.

One of the main questions being asked by players is about Card Jitsu. The team have expressed that Card Jitsu is a large-scale project to work on. Even the original Card Jitsu from Club Penguin was delayed by Disney following complications with programming so these delays are not unexpected. CPR have said that they intend to release the Dojo room soon, with the Card Jitsu game expected to follow at some point this year.

Other Announcements

Also in the week, Stu announced that he wished to bring back “Devcasts”. These podcast-style community events were used by the CPR team to announce the plans for future projects on Club Penguin Rewritten.

In more exciting news, a CPR tweet saw the announcement that due to a newly designed penguin model, the new catalogs will be able to bring the first ever custom items to Club Penguin Rewritten. Previously, items have only ever been identical to or recolours of original items.
