Hello ACP and happy August, Legends Cup victors!
July was a wild month. Getting the bad news out first, our Top Ten weekly streak sadly came to an end, but only after we made history and extended it all the way to 21 weeks! On the other hand, our monthly streak is still going strong, with it being at 5 months as of now! Moving on, the Legends Cup tournament took place, and with that, we had a chance to bring the trophy back to Mammoth where it belongs after three years. Advancing directly into the Quarterfinals, we faced the Romans on July 18, who sadly didn’t max the required size to continue the battle, and we automatically won after room 1. A week later were the Semifinals against the Help Force, who put up a strong fight, but ultimately we won the battle and secured a spot in the finals. Going a few days overboard into August, the finals of Legends Cup were on the 2nd, where we faced the Rebel Penguin Federation, our allies, but also our tournament rivals, who were ready to try their best to win this legendary tournament. But so were we. After an insanely intense battle, going as far as two overtime rooms, and an hour of fighting, the results were announced. ACP victory. As there were many troops who supported us throughout this month, especially for the LC final, we brought back the Soldier of the Day role for the week of the finals to be able to thank those who put their best efforts each day! One of these was even putting in their best throughout the whole month, and we think they deserve this award, which we give away to one troop every month, as well. Please join me in congratulating…

Barfoo
on becoming the Troop of the Month for July!
What counts for Troop of the Month?
– Activity in ACP chat
– Event attendance
– Involved with the ACP community
– Taken initiative in other areas
Barfoo first joined the ACP in April of this year, however, she didn’t stay very active back then and left shortly. She later re-joined in June and this time, she went on to become a very active member of our community, attending countless events and being a big part of our Legends Cup victory, with her becoming one of the recipients of the Soldier of the Day role. Additionally, her efforts have led her to reach the rank of Colonel, and be awarded the Recruiter of the Week award twice for her amazing work within the Recruiting Force. Barfoo is also a very kind person in chat and you can often see her help out in the coffee shop channel! Due to all of that, this award is more than deserved. Congratulations Barfoo!
Interview with Barfoo
Hi Barfoo, welcome to this interview and congrats on Troop of the Month! How did you feel like when you were announced this award?
Well, I thought it might be a joke for a minute. I don’t feel like I’ve been in ACP long enough for such an honor.
But I’m excited, of course. It’s such a wonderful community to find myself in.
Glad you’re excited, it’s been well earned! You left ACP after a short time when you joined initially, what made you rejoin and stay this time around?
So, the initial joining was actually an accident. I happened upon an igloo raid back in April, just after joining CPJ, and the leader of the raid said we could put our name on their discord list but when I googled, I ended up at the ACP discord instead. Misaki kindly helped me find my way to the other group. Unfortunately, I never fit in there, so when Queenie recruited me for ACP, I was hesitant, but she convinced me to give it a try. I loved this group right away.
Lol that’s interesting! What were your thoughts on the Legends Cup tournament and how did you react when it was announced that we won?
I had no idea of the history involved until reading some of Daniel’s posts. He really got me excited atout it. Then came the actual final battle. My audio wasn’t working and so I was slow to move and got locked out of the first room, then was only in the second for a few seconds before I accidentally clicked out, and then was locked out through the third. I kept telling myself that we would win, and it didn’t matter if I didn’t get to personally be in the battle, and then someone suggested I try the Spanish VC. I really appreciate whoever was leading in there; it was wonderful to feel part of the battle again! And then we were suddenly going into overtime and I got into the fourth room! It was chaotic and nervewracking and SO MUCH FUN! And THENNNN to everyone’s disbelief, they called a second overtime! And then we were declared the winners! It was one of the most exhilarating moments. I’m still hyped up!
I am happy you were excited! Do you have any goals within acp?
I think I’d like to eventually become staff. I’m not really sure what’s involved, but I’ll play it by ear as opportunities arise. For instance, I didn’t think I’d want to do recruiting, because I’m pretty shy, but decided I’d try Recruiting Force. I learned that since I can do it alongside my friends (I love stamp hunts!), it’s fun!
Yayyyy you got this! Moving on, do you have any interests or hobbies?
Yes, I do. I collect hobbies. I love fiber arts (knitting, weaving, sewing), and have tried my hand at everything from jewelry making to leatherworking. And I have always been a reader. I once dreamed of being a fiction writer, but I’ve realized I don’t have that in me. But now my day job is as a production editor in fiction publishing, so I still get to be involved in the making of worlds.
That is very cool! Do you have a favourite book?
That’s a hard one. I can say my favorite kind of books are science fiction and fantasy, but one book? I love so many. I guess the one I’ve reread the most is from my childhood, A Wrinkle in Time. I was a bit of a nerdy misfit (still am!), and it made me feel seen.
Sounds nice! What is the best part on your job?
I love thinking that some kid in the year 2126 could potentially pick up and enjoy a book that I helped produce (who knows if actual physical books will still exist, but hey, vinyl came back). I mean, I have enjoyed books from 1926 and earlier. It’s not time travel, of course, but probably the closest I’ll come to it.
Random thought. I played OGCP but never even had friends back then that were in a Club Penguin army. But this army, ACP, was already playing together back then, when I was decorating my first igloo and learning to play the minigames. There’s a sense of time travel in that, too.
Oh lolllll yeah! Speaking of time travel, if you could time travel to anywhere in the past or in the future, what date would you choose and why?
Wow, that’s a surprisingly hard question to answer. I guess it’s cliché, but try as I might, I can’t think of a better choice (for me) than July 20, 1969. I’d love to see the moon landing, but even more, to see people’s reactions to it. It had to have been magical.
Woah yeah, it does sound magical! Barfoo is a cool name, was there anything that made you come up with it?
When I joined OG CP, I tried to get the name Fubar or Foobar and neither were accepted, so I switched it around: Barfoo. (Foobar, bar, and foo are often used as placeholders in computer coding, and fubar has an even older meaning.) I was so happy to get the same name on CPJ. It makes a lot of people assume I’m a guy, but that’s more fun than not. I will say, if you’re gonna shorten it, I far prefer Foo to the other possibility that may come to mind. 🙃
Niceee! We are at the end of the interview, thank you for your time! Final question, anything else you would like to share with the readers?
Thanks for the great questions, Snowy! And thanks to all of HCOM and Staff and all the troops for making ACP such a great place to be. Sorry for being so long-winded.
Thank you so much Barfoo for your wonderful interview and once again congrats on Troop of the Month!
Please congratulate her in the comments below or whenever you see her!
