The March Madness tournament was one that the ACP never won in over a decade of it being hosted. However, that all changed very recently, with us winning the eleventh edition of March Madness with a battle that will be forever remembered.

Just last year, in March Madness X, we were swept by the Rebel Penguin Federation in the Semifinals. Although we ‘advanced’ to the third-place match against the Doritos, our rivals at the time, we unfortunately lost in overtime.

However, the situation was vastly different this year in MMXI. Before it, we had been growing for several months, and we had high hopes of winning it for the first time, after our incredibly close Christmas Chaos defeat in overtime of the semifinals against the Rebel Penguin Federation as well. The first battle, the Quarterfinals, took place on the 15th of March against the Dark Warriors. There, we’ve shown an insane effort, maxing 82 and sweeping the battle.

The week after, on the 22nd of March, we went against the Templars in the Semifinals. It was expected to be a difficult battle. However, we managed to max 100 people and dominate the battle, sweeping all three rooms.

Finally, we were in the finals. The most difficult battle of them all. We were against the Rebel Penguin Federation once more, the army that had just won 5 tournaments in a row. However, we were ready to fight as if it were our last battle. After having advanced so far, we didn’t want to lose; we wanted to win and make history!

On the 29th of March, we started to log on for the finals, being insanely ready for it. We battled as intensely as we could, knowing very well that we were just half an hour away from the trophy. At one point in the battle, we had 129 troops online on the entire server. Even though a lot of them were locked out, they kept trying to get into the battle room as much as they could. And those in the room fought like everything was on the line.

Finally, at 3:31 pm EDT, the results were announced. It was a 2-1-0 victory for the ACP, and we won March Madness for the very first time in our history!

We were all very happy with the win. Of course, this couldn’t have been done without the 129 soldiers who attended on the day of the finals. We have interviewed several of them on how they feel about the tournament!

How are you feeling about our March Madness victory?

Ashwolf: It feels amazing to be part our first ever MM Win, even weeks later I just feel so proud of what we’ve achieved.

Audra: I think we did incredible for March Madness, everyone worked so hard and showed up when we needed it! It was tough, RPF put up a good fight, but we did so good and earned the win through hard work and dedication.

Anne: So, so proud!! There was a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes, especially with all the trainings in preparation for each battle, and I’m so happy it all paid off :))!! I’m also a huge US college basketball fan, so hearing that Club Penguin armies had their own version of March Madness made this victory all the more exciting.

Kyra: I’m so proud of us. As someone who was still pretty new to ACP when we started preparing, I’m incredibly grateful for how welcoming everyone was. So many people put in so much work, and I feel genuinely honored to call myself part of such a wonderful group.

Bina: i’m ecstatic! i’m so proud of us, i haven’t been here for long, but it just makes me so happy to see everyone’s efforts being paid off!

Qu33ni3: As my first ever big event since joining ACP, I feel a sense of accomplishment and gratitude in being apart of this victory!

What were your hopes for ACP before the tournament and at the start of it?

Ashwolf: The only thing I had in my mind even before the tournament started was winning MM mainly because of seeing how everyone was working so hard for it to actually happen.

Audra: My hopes for ACP were that we would win of course! I just never imagined how many people would come and the records we would break! During the start of it i felt very confident we would win, the first battle we had so many people log on and everything looked so good.

Anne: Before the tournament, I was really hoping we’d win it all but I was definitely scared!! March Madness, at least on the basketball side, is notorious for bringing out the unexpected. This is my first MM with Club Penguin armies, so I didn’t know what to expect. After our first battle against Dark Warriors, I felt confident about us bringing the trophy home.

Kyra: Going in, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I was curious to see how everything worked and excited to watch the tactics other groups used. After the first battle, I was hooked and couldn’t wait to see more.

Bina: before the tournament i’ll admit that i was a bit scared, but we kept preparing and growing every day. after it started i definitely started believing that we had a great chance of winning and was very hopeful!

Qu33ni3: My hopes were definitely to be able to come out victorious and as a community know we did our best no matter the outcome.

How hyped were you for each of the battles?

Ashwolf: Super hyped and super excited that each minute felt like an hour lol.

Audra: I was SO hyped!! Probably one of the most exciting things to happen to me in awhile, everyone was active in chat, things were so positive everywhere I looked. I really felt like we were all a big team working together so smoothly.

Anne: VERYY hyped!!! 😀 I’d always look forward to the next battle, but it might just be because I love battles in general LOL It truly brings the best out of everyone, and I think that really showed in every battle.

Kyra: Every single time, I was beyond hyped. ACP knows exactly how to get everyone into that pre‑battle mindset. The VC energy is unmatched!

Bina: very hyped!! and they were all so fun, but i was the most hyped for the finals, my heart was beating like crazy during the entire battle.

Qu33ni3: I was definitely excited but also nervous because it was my first big event since joining that i participated in. But everyone was welcoming and encouraging so it helped a ton to stay hype through the whole time! We have an amazing community that helps with any questions and keeps everyone ready and excited!

What was your reaction when the results of the final battle were announced?

Ashwolf: I screamed so loud (sob)(sob) I was staring at the screen once the results were announced not believing my eyes and then it hit me when I heard Daniel shouting “WE WON”.

Audra: I think I actually cried. lol, I was still newer to ACP at the time but the amount of pride I felt when they announced us winners was unimaginable. I saw so many people put the effort in and spend so much time helping troops out, one of which was me at the time. I could tell from everyone else’s reactions that there was so much pride going around.

Anne: I was a mess. I was so happy. It made all those trainings so worth it. I love ACP, but somehow this victory made me love ACP even more. We did so well on the final battle and I wanted to hug everyone at that very moment.

Kyra: I was over the moon for all of us. When the results came in, I literally shouted because I couldn’t believe it, it was this rush of surprise, pride, and relief all at the same time. I can distinctly remember Daniel yelling that we won and the smile that lit up my face.

Bina: i was trembling and felt so much anxiety while waiting, like the seconds never passed! when it got announced i jumped on my chair and started crying, i felt so much relief and joy. it was so funny to hear “WE WON, WE WON!” because i screamed too (sob) it’s definitely a day i’ll never forget!

Qu33ni3: To say I wasn’t nervous while waiting would be a complete lie lol. As soon as it was announced pride and joy overtook! Knowing we all worked hard and beat a lot of odds and past records was an amazing feeling not only for me but for each and everyone of us for never giving up!

Moving forward, what do you think about future tournaments (like ATWC or LC)? Do you think we’ll win?

Ashwolf: Winning is the only thing i have in my mind for those tournaments, but its not gonna be easy since everyone saw what we could do in MM so they wont go easy on us.

Audra: I think if we can keep up what we have been doing, recruiting, training, and just overall being super active and positive in every way that we can 100% win the next battles/tournaments coming up. We’ve shown everyone it can be done, and I think we can show them again an again that ACP is here to win!

Anne: I think ACP has a lot of momentum coming into ATWC or LC, especially after winning MM for the first time. I believe that we will win.

Kyra: Absolutely! Even if we don’t take the trophy every time, I know we’ll show up with everything we’ve got. That’s just who we are.

Bina: of course! after what happened during march madness, i believe we can do anything. we made history, and we’ll keep going. with the power of the clover! 🙂

Qu33ni3: Of course the nerves are always there but I know if we continue to lift each other up and work together as we have been, we can definitely win! I look forward to being apart of future tournaments with one of the best communities I’ve found! Can’t wait to keep beating odds and records and showing how we work together to win lol
