ACP Interviews: King Mondo

HELLO there ACP Shamrock Bulletin(-ers?)

Have you ever wondered how to get to ACP leader? Perhaps you have been curious about the experiences of some of our very own ex-leaders….

Well, your questions shall be answered, as earlier I headed over to the Mammoth Classroom to ask our very own Advisor and Legend King Mondo a few questions!

Mondo is known for his everlasting positive attitude as well as for being one of our three Advisors! He also led the Army of CP itself in late 2016 till early 2017!

Let’s start off the interview!

When did you lead the Army of CP? And for how long?

I led ACP from May 28th of 2016 to the end of March 2017 – so about 10 months

How did you manage to rise up to leader? Any tips for current troops that aspire to lead ACP one day?

I think there’s a lot of factors that contribute to one’s success in this case. For me, I began to appreciate the community ACP is not long after joining, and that inspired me to work toward promotions. I always strived to contribute in any way possible and remained dedicated to my goals of eventually earning a staff rank, HCOM, and eventually leader. Achieving the rank of leader in ACP is something that takes tremendous time and effort, but I think if one remains determined and focused, they’ll get there.

I’ve oversimplified a lot of what I could say for the same of brevity, but in future I’m happy to unpack my thoughts on this, probably in a post at some point in the near future.

But it essentially boils down to remaining determined and focused to succeed, and remembering that each of us has tremendous potential and uniqueness to contribute in any of our endeavors.

Honestly after almost 9 years in ACP, my memory has faded in a lot of places. Off the top of my head, I can recall some fun experiences on Tinychat with some ACP folks where we were laughing and having a lot of fun in my first few years in ACP. Some other experiences I remember are from when I had recently been promoted to staff and started feeling an even great sense of camaraderie. Other moments that are likely among my favorite have to do with winning the 3ic elections and earning an HCOM position, and subsequently working at an even greater level with others to maintain and improve ACP.

The past year and few months that ACP has been around since revival has honestly blown me away, to say the least. There have been so many amazing moments for ACP as well as for myself that it makes it incredibly difficult to choose. I’d probably say that one the most notable moments for me was the Fight or Fright October tournament battles vs. IW and RPF. The collective effort, especially of the amazing staff team and the fact that we broke records maxing over 110 twice in two weeks is still unbelievable to me.

That outcome is unprecedented for us, and it was just so beautiful to see.

What is one thing you would like to say to the entire army on this post?

I’d just like to reiterate and re-emphasize that, especially in light of the pandemic and the stress it has caused, whatever you’ve got going on and whatever’s happening, good or bad, ACP’s got your back. One thing I’ve learned is that if you’re there for ACP (trying to contribute to it and make it a better place for everyone ultimately and being there for the community), it will be there for you when you need it most, whether that be in the form of diversion from stress/a fun escape or just talking to friends and having fun (among other things). I can attest to the fact that ACP has always had my back, and I’m grateful for that every day.

We always stand together, and we always march on, whatever happens.

Ithink the line “Vorwärts, vorwärts, bleibt nicht stehen” from “Rammlied” by RAMMSTEIN is especially relevant here ;D

That concludes the long-awaited interview of King Mondo! Let me know in the comment section below if you enjoyed it, and what other questions YOU would like to ask, perhaps you will get an answer….
