BLIZZARD, Shamrock Bulletin Headquarters – The CPA community has seen the use of various CPPS’, yet leagues are still hesitant about armies using any CPPS that is not CPABattleground.
Ever since the creation of Club Penguin Army Battleground, following the closure of Club Penguin Rewritten, we have seen leagues punish armies for using other CPPS’ such as Yukon and Club Penguin Journey. These punishments have come in all shapes and sizes.
Yukon
Yukon was the first CPPS to be created following the end of Adobe Flash. The CPPS was originally used to show off HTML5 code and it was accessible for everyone to use. It didn’t have any parties or mascots like the original Club Penguin. However, it did have commands so that the player could add items into their inventory.
Night Warriors was the first army to use this. However, this his didn’t come without consequences though. On February 24th, 2022, Max released a post outlining the issues with Yukon. Yukon didn’t log IPs and this made it impossible to check if any multilogging had occurred. With this factor in mind, Club Penguin Army Headquarters and Club Penguin Army Network placed a 0.6 multiplier on any army that uses Yukon for events.
The only 2 armies that used Yukon following this were Night Warriors and Mercenaries of Club Penguin. Night Warriors were able to reach maxes of 70 whilst using this CPPS, so suspicions of multilogging grew. With no logical reasoning to back this up, they were given no penalty. However, they would never move back to CPAB due to a lack of trust in the game storing IPs.
Mercenaries moved to Yukon a few months later due to the same reasons. They were not able to max as much as Night Warriors, yet still had the same treatment. There was no multilogging evidence, and yet using the CPPS made them look like they multilogged because using the CPPS was frowned upon. The multiplier set Mercenaries back a few spots, leading them to move back to CPAB a few weeks later.
Club Penguin Journey
Written by Austin
Club Penguin Journey is a new HTML CPPS that debuted on February 5th, 2023. Although the game is not widely popular among its player base, it does host exciting parties and events and is very active. They are currently hosting the Card-Jitsu Party 2023, which has received a great deal of attention.
The Janitors of Club Penguin, a small/medium army, reopened their doors, preferring to base their operations in Club Penguin Journey rather than Club Penguin Battleground. They went on to gather a few penguins during their events and included rogues in their sizes. Club Penguin Armies were quick to notice and were able to take appropriate measures by not counting the rogues. When considering a rogue troop as an army member, many conditions had to be met, such as if they were wearing the same uniform, participating in army tactics, and so on. Club Penguin Armies did not punish Janitors for using a different CPPS, instead, they did not count “rogues” who did not meet the criteria for being considered as a troop.
New Club Penguin
New Club Penguin opened on July 8th, 2020, following Club Penguin Online’s closure. It was created by an admin of Club Penguin Online, therefore, New Club Penguin used the code from CPO. When Adobe Flash ended on January 12th, 2021, New Club Penguin moved to be a downloadable client.
Following the closure of Club Penguin Rewritten, some armies such as the Ice Warriors and Rebel Penguin Federation used New Club Penguin to host events that required the use of minigames. But, because the game needed to be downloaded, some troops were not able to/refused to log on for battles. This led to NCP being phased out of the CPA community.
However, when armies did use NCP for events, they were never punished for it unlike when armies used Yukon. This is due to the impossibility that multilogging can take place as you can not open 2 instances of NCP at the same time unless you get a separate PC. Therefore leagues never punished armies for using this CPPS.
Community Opinion
The Shamrock Bulletin interviewed some members of the community to get their thoughts on the idea of giving multipliers to army events that do not use CPAB. Here’s what they had to say:
Shallissa, People’s Imperial Confederation Leader: Yes absolutely. The original Club Penguin game along with CPR formed the CPA community and kept it alive after Club Penguin’s shut down. CPAB is a wonderful CPPS that we are beyond grateful to have, I’d like to see armies continue using it for events, battles, etc. However branching out into a new and public CPPS allows newer troops to experience a CPPS community that many of us adored for years. CPA in its current state lacks the gameplay and Club Penguin community that built many of our armies. Getting new troops to use multiple CPPS’s can be very confusing, especially when New CP is a downloadable client. This is where I think the size multiplier would be great, and would encourage armies to branch out into CPPS communities. There is a safety concern however, especially considering the controversy surrounding a certain CPPS that shall not be named. If any leagues were to move forward with a size multiplier, I would expect a list of approved CPPS’s that have been admin and moderator researched and tested to ensure the safety of CPA members. Overall I think a size multiplier would be a great in right circumstance, encouraging armies to expand into different ways of event hosting and gameplay.
Mchappy, CPA Executive Producer: No, unless it is found that it is easy to multilog on that private server a la Yukon. Currently, Elite Guardians quite frequently use other private servers to host their events. We do not provide any multiplier to these events. However, we normally always recount their sizes from these events to something lower than their recorded max attendance. This is because Club Penguin Armies follows a system where penguins have to be not only in uniform and in the form, but also doing the tactic. (Note that we do count those clearly in uniform and form but may have missed the tactic.)
On a personal note, I believe that it is completely healthy for other private servers to be used aside from Battleground. Super has agreed to this himself, too. However, there is currently no safe private server in the way that Battleground is safe. And, at this rate, I do not see another private server rivaling Battleground’s safety ever appearing.
Mogi4, Water Vikings Leader in Training: In my opinion leagues should add a multiplier for a CPPS that isn’t CPAB because in CPAB the admins can easily make sure that there isn’t any multilogging going on and it helps make sure that everything is fair. By adding a multiplier it encourages armies to use CPAB so yea CPAB keeps us from worrying about multilogging.
Greg, People’s Imperial Confederation Fourth in Command: Personally I don’t believe we should be adding multipliers over smth like that, while I understand possibilities such as multilogging (smth notably easier on different CPPSes albeit still fairly easy on CPAB). That isn’t really prevented in most cases of people using a different CPPS, some armies should be allowed to mess with different ones as it makes recruiting far easier compared to discord, especially after the recent crackdown on people trying to recruit. The multiplier does nothing except force people to play on a CPPS that while makes multilogging easier to manage, is also what I find to be inferior at points.
As we can see the community has split opinions on whether or not other CPPS’ should have multipliers. What do YOU think? Comment below your opinion on whether you believe leagues should punish those who use a different CPPS.
