Learning From Legends: 34th Leader Mrtchy

BLIZZARD, Shamrock Bulletin Headquarters – In this weekly column, we visit various legends from the community and pay them a penny for their thoughts. As we set out on our quest to uncover the wisdom of legends, what will we discover in this latest edition?

Mrtchy

Mrtchy has been involved in numerous medium-sized armies since he joined the community in June 2008. However, his main stints were leadership positions in both the Army of Club Penguin and the Black Bandits.

Retirement event of Mrtchy.

In this edition of the Learning From Legends column, we got in contact with Mrtchy himself and questioned him on his Club Penguin adventures. What lessons will we be taught today?

When did you lead the Army of CP, and how did you rise to the position of leader?

I led from around August 2014 to December 2014. I was initially approached by Flipmoo in January (of 2014) about applying for the open 3ic position. He approached me because I am Australian and had previous experience in armies, making me an ideal contender for 3ic of AUSIA. From there I just stayed in ACP as 3ic, 2ic and when Flipmoo resigned I replaced him as leader.

While in the army, what was the biggest difficulty or obstacle you faced?

If memory serves correctly it would be the USA division, it was just really hard to manage as Slime and I were AUSIA and UK so it was quite difficult to have an influence in the USA time zone. It was definitely our weak point for a while there.

What is your fondest memory from your time in the army?

This is probably not exactly a specific memory, but it would be bringing a bunch of people together to just chat and hang out. Definitely was very rewarding to experience.

What is a lesson/message you would give the current members of the community that you learned over your army experience?

Make sure you make time to get out and socialize and meet people outside of this community too. I remember I spent the year I returned pretty much solely on here and it definitely impacted my social life and school life.

The lesson delivered by Mrtchy is definitely a valuable one. It tells us that while the community is a fun place to be, a good balance between real-life and CP Armies should always be established.
