Happy Veterans Day ACP,
Veterans day is a day in the United States, meant for honoring the veterans who served, honoring the injured, and remembering the sacrifices soldiers made for us. Most of the kids in the U.S have today off from school too.
If you want, you can read this bit of history I’ve discovered,
In 1918, on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day in the eleventh month, the world rejoiced and celebrated. After four years of bitter war, an armistice was signed. The “war to end all wars” was over.
November 11, 1919 was set aside as Armistice Day in the United States, to remember the sacrifices that men and women made during World War I in order to ensure a lasting peace. On Armistice Day, soldiers who survived the war marched in a parade through their home towns. Politicians and veteran officers gave speeches and held ceremonies of thanks for the peace they had won.
Congress voted Armistice Day a federal holiday in 1938, 20 years after the war ended. But Americans realized that the previous war would not be the last one. World War II began the following year and nations great and small again participated in a bloody struggle. After the Second World War, Armistice Day continued to be observed on November 11.
In 1953 townspeople in Emporia, Kansas called the holiday Veterans’ Day in gratitude to the veterans in their town. Soon after, Congress passed a bill introduced by a Kansas congressman renaming the federal holiday to Veterans’ Day. 1971 President Nixon declared it a federal holiday on the second Monday in November.
Americans still give thanks for peace on Veterans’ Day. There are ceremonies and speeches and at 11:00 in the morning, most Americans observe a moment of silence, remembering those who fought for peace.
After the United States’ involvement in the Vietnam War, the emphasis on holiday activities has shifted. There are fewer military parades and ceremonies. Veterans gather at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. to place gifts and stand quiet vigil at the names of their friends and relatives who fell in the Vietnam War. Families who have lost sons and daughters in wars turn their thoughts more toward peace and the avoidance of future wars.
And finally, I found an inspiring video.
If you see a veteran today, remember to thank him/her for their service
If you happen to have a parent who has ever served, be sure to comment.

Actually, The Bill itself “to end all wars” wasn’t signed at 11:11:11.
That would have been hard to pull off.

R.I.P All them who died in the wars.
My P.E. teacher, Mr. Cooper, was a marine. Today, he is an active, healthy, energetic man that teaches Physical Education. For all those who served and are still serving. We salute you soldiers, thank you for everything. -Ebido
P.S. I will be back in action soon, trust me!

U.S. schools get the day of lucky! At may school (in Canada) we had an assembly/chapel to honour the soldiers that keep peace in the world. Then we had 2 min. of silence at 11:11 am to remember all the soldiers who fought and fighting for freedom. R.I.P. to all the soldier who died in various wars.

One of the Teachers at my School (Indiana School for the Blind & VisuallyImpaired) is the mother of the Sargent who announced the death of Osoma Bin Lodan.
STGT rickel is her son..
He is in the Army Reserves and was on the IAir for Armed orces Radio.
He had a degree in Communacations that got him working for AFR.
Here is background on him…
Sgt. Adam Prickel (my son) has served two tours in Iraq as a Broadcast Journalist in the Army Reserves.
The first deployment was a full year during “Iraqi Freedom” and he just returned Oct 22nd from his second year deployment during “New Dawn”.
The first time he was part of a division where several members of his unit were attached to other units during their missions. He flew in almost every kind of helicopter and was out in the country more. This time he did an Armed Forces Radio show from 6-10 am in Baghdad and was on the air when the news of Osama Bin Laden’s death came out. He announced it to the troops in Iraq.
