Hello my fellow ACP-ers (Never used that term before and hopefully never will again)
As many of you (if not all of you) know, the Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens has been released and many of you (if not all of you, again) have already seen it. Just remember guys, if you HAVE seen the film, please do not spoil it for others on the xat chat (There will be bans). Also, I had a few… debates… regarding whether my science fiction fandom Star Trek was better than that of Star Wars. In this post, I shall review (as objectively as possible) which franchise would win in an all out fight. Read on for my argument!
Of course, all of this is opinion, and I must say that I do love both franchises, it’s just that I love Star Trek more (here’s proof for those of you who are still doubtful):
Now then, onto the argument over which is better (Just saying, I already know that I will get many hate comments, so I’ll try to keep this as objective as possible).
If Star Wars and Star Trek would clash in an epic all out war, which would win? Well let’s examine this shall we:
In Star Wars, you have the Empire and the Rebel forces. Let’s combine these for a moment.
In both of these, you have users of the Force (Jedi and the Sith) as well as huge fleets of battleships (Imperial Star Cruisers) and the super weapon of the Death Star, which with one epic shot can destroy an entire planet.
The Empire is gigantic, spanning over an entire galaxy, where rule and law is based off of one man’s plans and his subordinates follow his orders out of fear and/or greed.
The fastest speed of every ship in the Star Wars universe is light speed (Warp 1 in Star Trek terms) except for the Millenium Falcon, which can outrun these ships using its augmented Hyperdrive, which is way faster than any Star Trek ship (it can reach the Andromeda Galaxy in only a few days, compared to the Enterprise’s millennia).
Star Trek, on the other hand, is a universe that doesn’t limit itself to two warring forces like Star Wars. Indeed, Star Trek hosts a wondrous amount of alien races, and develops them (The aliens in the Tatooine Cantina weren’t developed as a species or source of government. Compared to the Star Trek races, its like comparing a page to a book.). Among the mostly known are the Vulcans, the Klingons, the Romulans, the Borg, the Q, and so on. (I shall leave the Q out of this, however, because then Star Trek would win instantly. For those of you who don’t know, the Q are basically gods.)
In the Star Trek universe, there are these “empires”, whether democratic or not: The United Federation of Planets, the Klingon Empire, the Romulan Empire, and the Cardassian Empire. These empires all have warp capable ships (travelling faster than light – therefore faster than every ship in Star Wars except for the Millenium Falcon) with weapon technology that surpasses the Star Wars lasers.
The proof for this is such:
Here is an excerpt from Star Trek: The Next Generation, in Season 2 Episode 4, “The Outrageous Okona:”
WORF: Still no response. Captain, they are now locking lasers on us.
RIKER: Lasers?
WORF: Yes, sir.
PICARD: Lasers can’t even penetrate our navigation shields. Don’t they know that?
As this shows, lasers do barely any damage to the Star Trek ships. Therefore, in an all out fight, the only thing that could destroy the Star Trek ships are the Force users. However, since their numbers are lowered (episodes 4-6), it would be nearly impossible for them to win against Star Trek. I will also point out that in Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 2 Episode 15 “Pen Pals,” the Enterprise D was able to recreate the surface of a planet, rendering the destruction of everything else. Also, in Star Trek the Wrath of Khan, the Genesis torpedo recreates the planet’s surface and destroys the previous one. If this was used on an inhabited planet, everyone – and everything – on that planet would be destroyed. Therefore, any Star Trek ship can accomplish what the Death Star does, just without the overkill to completely destroy the planet.
Therefore, in my opinion, Star Trek would win against Star Wars in an all out fight.
I am looking forward to seeing your comments below, and see your thoughts on the matter.
