Moment of the Month: January 2021

BLIZZARD, Shamrock Bulletin Headquarters – As February arrives, we look back on the past month and celebrate what the Army of CP staff have selected as January’s ‘Moment of the Month‘.

The Army of Club Penguin staff team recently held a vote to establish what we believed to be the single ‘Moment of the Month‘ for January 2021. This includes moments that have resulted in a significant impact within our ACP community, be that be a war, retirement or promotion. So without further ado, we present the January moment and two runner-ups.

3. Tia Promoted To General In Rank Shakeup

On January 25th, following Field Marshal Robot’s departure from the Higher Command only a day prior, Commander-in-Chief CSY announced the promotions of several moderators. This included former Lieutenant General Tia’s promotion to General, a Higher Command position. CSY mentioned that Tia had been an extremely active member of the army and had taken initiative at many occasions. Furthermore, Leader CSY added that Tia had become an inseparable face within the Army of CP’s chat. In her interview regarding her well-deserved promotion, Tia expressed that she was very excited in looking forward to leading and making the Army of CP a fun place to be.

Additionally, former Field General Sanya also received a promotion to the rank of Supervisor. CSY described Sanya as a catalyst for change, always watching over the Army of CP and supporting the army in many ways. Following these two major promotions, moderators Fatchicken88 and Nightfury also received their respective promotions to the ranks of Field General and Major General due to all their hard work and effort.

2. Alpha vs. Echo Civil War: The Revenge

January 2021 in ACP also saw the return of the tensions between our divisions: Alpha and Echo. In a continuation of their Civil War of September 2020, they, once again, engaged in a weeklong conflict. The events, which were in place to keep ACP active during Club Penguin Rewritten’s recent downtime, consisted of many of the activities that we have come to expect from break days. The branches battled it out in games such as skribbl.io, typeracer and Kahoot! This week also saw the introduction of troops challenging each other for the best scores on individual games – these included arcade-classic “Tetris”, mobile phenomenon “2048” and the incredibly frustrating “Flappy Bird”. With Team Echo ahead from day one, Alpha was not able to take the lead with the non-CPR events.

The week concluded with ACP’s return to CPR for an in-game branch battle. This event also saw the return of Field Marshal Max to Team Echo after his time away from ACP in mid-January. With a potential 10 points available for the winning team, both branches put up a good fight. Neither were successful though and the battle was ruled a tie. This left Echo in the lead, with the final war score standing at 32-23. This meant that participating Echo team members were rewarded with a “Civil War: The Revenge 32-23” role. With Team Alpha threatening revenge, can we expect to see another rematch between the branches?

1. Higher Command Robot and Zelly Step Down

Although filled with many promotions, the month of January also saw the sad departure of two Higher Command members. The first was Field Marshal Robot, who announced his retirement following the Civil War Finale event on January 24th and thus concluding his nine months of service. He joined for the rank of fourth-in-command on April 16th, 2020, in the lead up to the CP Army Media’s ‘Premier League’ tournament. Robot soon became an important part of the Army of CP, helping the army to gain great victories in further conflicts and tournaments such as the historic CP Army Hub’s Fright or Fight. He contributions saw him inducted as a ‘Dedicated Officer‘ on the Hall of Fame.

Soon after, third-in-command Zellybelly made the sad announcement that she too would be departing from the Higher Command, and instead don the role of ‘Advisor‘. This was due to in-real-life commitments, and marked over a years service in the army. She joined on December 26th, 2019, following an ‘EPF recruiting session’ and soon worked her way into the moderator ranks. In early February 2020, she became the quickest person to be promoted into the Higher Command and would earn soon earn the second-in-command rank several months later, in June. One of her key roles included serving as a Recruitment Supervisor for the ACP Recruiting Force and the staff team. Upon Zelly’s departure from Higher Command, General Kailey took over leading RF, while staff member ShadowSaint was promoted to Recruitment Supervisor and given the duty of overseeing moderator recruitment.

These shocking retirements were voted as the top moment of January 2021 due to the significant impact these amazing people had on the army as Higher Command, and friends.

And there we have it – the Moment of January 2021 and accompanying runner-ups. As we now head into the second month of the year, what can we expect to occur? And what moment will top our listing at the end of it?
