Hello ACP,
Recently I released a big juicy post muckraking several issues within the ACP that needed to be recognized. After seeing all of the positive feedback from each of you, I have decided it’s time to push two of those points mentioned forward a bit. First, I’m going to suggest several ways to bring back divisions. I will also put polls on each decision to see which proposal is the best which yet again means you- the soldier- will have a greater voice. After all, this will be affecting you so you should have a say in what happens, right? Before I do this however, I’d like to take a minute to discuss some pros and cons of divisions seen in the past…
Pros:
-More power to the mods
-More things to do for soldiers
-Helps for tactics practice
-Won’t need another army for practice battles
-Fun competitions
-New mod rank
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Cons:
-Disorganization
-Corruption among Division Generals
-Bad Division General could cause a collapse in the division
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Now with that said, here are the choices that I have thought of. Also, vote yes if you approve of the idea, vote no if you don’t. The one with the highest approval rating (IN PERCENTAGE) will be chosen. Mchappy has to approve of the choice after the soldiers have picked it though:
I. (Traditional)
-Three Divisions (Alpha, Delta, Echo)
-Six Division Generals
-Soldiers choose which division they’d like to be in
-Division sites needed
Poll:
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
II. (Balanced)
-Two Divisions (Alpha, Echo)
-Four Division Generals
-Soldiers choose which division they’d like to be in
-Division sites needed
Poll:
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
III. (Brigades)
-Number of Brigades based on size of army
-No Division General rank
-One or two Generals lead each Brigade of around five to seven troops total (Including the mods)
-Soldiers can request but not choose which Brigade they’re in
-No brigade sites
(*This has many more problems than divisions but can still work*)
Poll:

So ACP? It’s your choice. Should we bring divisions back? If so vote which choice you’d like. If all of the polls end up with more no’s then yes’s then we’ll probably just not have divisions at all.

choice 1 pls
Yes. But actually use them to fight together, instead of them just having practice battles between themselves once in a blue moon. They could be a genuine tactical advantage.
Though having their own sites will be good to give Div Gens responsibility.
I’d suggest 2 divisions, each with a UK and USA sections (though based on the same site). Such as when the older divisions were split into Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 or whatever it was.
If divisions came back I’d agree with Twingy, theres what 5 people in Aus timezone in ACP? Theres no use in including an Aus division.
Actually, I forgot about AUS. Well, they should have a division too (Slider’s right in a sense, they’re impossible to split). That would make 3 divisions. Oh well, already voted.
Possibly, it could make more sense just to have UK, US, and AUS divisions which would practice at weekends on fighting together/against each other, and in the mean time recruit and patrol in a more organized fashion during the week? Still of course, with their own sites, and giving Generals responsibility.
More for choice 2, ACP isn’t big enough for choice 1. =P
Division Names: Alpha, Beta and Delta (Alpha=US) (Beta=UK) (Delta=Aus)
Simple.
Theres about 5 people in Aus in ACP it would be pointless.
I love divisions but splitting up about 30 people between 2-3 divisions just seems pointless, we’d be too thinned out.
Actually, adding in Divisions would likely help to improve activity, if you can get a core group of Division Generals who are active and train them to lead their troops, then it adds them to the list of people encouraging activity, and they can focus on a smaller group of soldiers, those in their division. If its planned and used properly, Divisions are something that can bring up numbers rather than thin them out.
Such ways that activity can be improved through divisions:
1. Start at the top, Leaders have to make sure Divisions are keeping up to speed with things. Generals get added to the category of being top dogs too, as they now have leadership roles of their own, either being promoted to Division General to lead a Division with a partner, or being a General, second in commands to the Divisions.
2. Events. With Divisions, you bring in the possibility of Practice battles between the divisions, and speaking from experience, they’re much more fun than tactics sessions. It doesn’t live up to the hype of a real battle, but its certainly better than no battles in peacetime. Also in terms of leadership experience, Divisions can rotate who leads the Practice battles between the Division Generals and Generals, which trains them as future leaders, and gets them all more active when you have them all working together on their sites.
3. The Soldiers, of course, are the main factor in army activity. Obviously it doesn’t matter how many leaders there are if they have no active followers. So, when you bring in Divisions, it’s smaller, more focused of a community than the ACP as a whole. For that social aspect, it lets the soldiers who are in those Divisions to make more friends within their division, and then they’ll tend to be more active to see their friends more, and if you can give them wars and events they’re going to be interested in, you’ll keep them around.
I mean, its not a straight shot to activity, nothing is. However, if it’s done right, and you can get those Generals+Division Generals trained and ready to lead a Division in every aspect of that task, it’s a better shot than we stand at right now.
Conclusively, and also tl;dr for some…
Its worth a shot, and last time we had Divisions/Brigades (2009 Brigades, specifically) was the best time of my ACP career because of that experience. So think about giving it a chance before saying it wont work.
What Clint said. Slider, I’ve noticed ever since you’ve come back that you’ve been grouchy. Son, you need to adjust the attitude and be more positive because Clint is right. 🙂
Choice 2 sounds pretty groovy. 3 Divisions sounds too much and I don’t really get choice 3!
