How to take a Print Screen

Hey Guys,

For those of you who do not know how to take screenshots here are some instructions. There are helpful when taking pictures of battles and stuff like that.

Windows OS:

  1. Locate the Print Screen (sometimes abbreviated Prnt Scrn) button on your keyboard. It is typically to the right of all of the Function (F) keys
  2. Now, click on the window that you would like to take a screenshot of
  3. Press ALT+Print Screen
  4. This will copy a screenshot of that window into memory. You can paste it into an application, such as Microsoft Word or Paint. Save the file once pasted in to a location that you can find

If you need to take a screenshot of multiple windows, you can just hit Print Screen for the third step. This will copy a screenshot of your entire screen into memory.

Once you’ve taken a picture and saved it, you can upload it using image sites such as http://imgur.com/

A helpful program you can install and use to upload the picture more quickly is Lightshot which can be downloaded here: http://skillbrains.com/

Mac OS:

  1. Press Command+Shift+4, your cursor will become a cross hair
  2. Place the cross hair in the top left hand corner of what you’d like to capture
  3. You can now click and drag to create a blue square around the portion of your screen you’d like to capture
  4. Once you finish clicking, the screenshot will be automatically saved to your desktop
  5. You can then upload the picture to image sites such as http://imgur.com/

An alternative to using the default screen shot program in the Mac OS is to use Lightshot which can be installed here: http://skillbrains.com/
